YOU SAY IT'S YOUR BIRTHDAY...

...It's Alan's birthday too!!!! Or it was on the 12th anyway:) He turned the big 30 (though he wants you think he's 20:)) and Jake and I did EVERYTHING we could to show him 30 is great too:)

Thursday (the 12th) he had to work so he opened his presents from Jake and I...mostly some new duds...and then Jake and I snuck away to "run errands" and met him at the PD with chocolate frosted homemade brownies and ice cream for roll call...SURPRISE!:) Yum! (BTW - there is no food allowed in roll call - supposedly:)) I forgot to take my camera so I didn't get a picture to post:(
Friday we ran around like crazy trying to get everything ready for weekend guests and Alan's Birthday BBQ. After Jake's 4 month check up (which we'll tell you about later) we ran home so we could mow the lawn...yeah...the backyard was a LAKE so there would be no BBQ in the backyard. While I was mowing the front yard and Alan was preparing the lake for the slip-n-slide Alan's parents showed up and then his older brother, Dale, showed up. (Dale came in from out of state). Dale waited in the garage while I got Alan to come out and "make some party decisions"...SURPRISE!!! So great! It was awesome! We had about 60 people show up for the party. The kids played water games and we had more food than should be allowed at any one place at one time. Alan and the sibs stayed up pretty much all night long playing games and catching up. Good times.

Saturday morning Renee and I got up and made breakfast and I waited anxiously for the others to get up. An hour before I needed them to be up Dale and Alan pulled themselves out of bed. I asked Alan if I could say the morning prayer/blessing on breakfast. He, of course, said yes and then during the prayer I said, "And please bless Dale and Alan as they go skydiving today that they will be protected and have a great time and that the weather will remain nice." SURPRISE!!! I'm not going to lie. I kept my eyes open the whole time. Alan's jaw dropped! But the good little reverent boy kept his eyes closed and everything:) They left an hour later and had a fabulous time:)

Alan quote: "I was surprised and amazed and even astonished. I am blessed with a wonderful wife and the only thing that comes to mind is how much I adore her. The three days of 30th birthday celebration were the best three days EVER! Surprise birthday cakes, surprise brother, and surprise skydiving. YEEEEEEEEEHAAW! I love 30!"

Mission accomplished! :)
I'm exhausted! I told Alan he should treasure these moments becuase next year I might not be recovered enough to get him more than a card:)
