Millions of Peaches...

Peaches for me....

A local orchard was giving away peaches becuase they didn't feel they were big enough to sell so we went and got 5 BUSHELS!!! Who are we? We literally had peaches coming out of our ears...we cut and froze a lot of them becuase we love smoothies, we mushed a ton becuase we love peach syrup, we canned only a little bit becuase my incredible sisters are taking care of that for us:)...we had a whole lot of great ideas about making peach leather and peach butter and...and...and...presently we are halfway through the peach butter...and can I just tell you...we were so excited about it, but as it turns out, the recipe we found online for peach butter is AWEFUL!!! Unless you like peach butter that doesn't taste ANYTHING like peaches!!! After canning and freezing and doing a bunch of syrup we divided what was left in half to do peach leather and peach butter...luckily(or unluckily) we did the butter first....we had to use the last half to try and calm down all the spices etc that this recipe called for...a sad day...a lesson learned...

On the up-side...Alan made pie...I love pie...:) We had some friends over the next day...the pie didn't live to be shared with them... :)

I LOVE PEACHES!!! We have great plans for our peaches when the two FULL trees in our yard ripen. Next week... Mmmmmmm, your pie is making me hungry. Thanks for sharing that picture after the sad peach butter story. I've never heard of peach butter, maybe there's a reason why....

Alan makes the best pies!! We have been doing peaches too! I have a great recipe for oatmeal crust. It tastes more like a cookie than a crust!!

We don't share pies either :) Yea for peaches! PS- I've had thyroid stuff going on for several years, this is my third biopsy, they just like to check up on it occasionally. All other indications are that other than the lumps, my thyroid is fine. So no stress :)
