Delayed reactions...

This blog is dedicated to all the things I "should" have been blogging in the last month...

Alan went out of town for a week so Jake and I were on our own. We had a really great week. Jake took me for a night out when the BYU Ballroom Dance team came into town. We both LOVED it!!! Jake especially though. From the minute we walked into the theater he was laughing and clapping! Once the dancing started he became even more animated, choosing a word for each feel of the dance and saying it over and over. For instance, when the dance team did the jive and everyone was dressed in fun colors and jumping around he kept saying "happy!" and then when it moved to the walz, with the ladies in pink flowy dresses and the men in tuxes and top hats he said, "oh, pretty". He did really great sitting in my lap until the last 15 minutes when he just could NOT contain himself any further...he HAD to get up and dance. So we went to the back and he danced all over the entryway to his little hearts content:) We were two very tired kids when we got home...WAY past our bedtime.

We had the opportunity to get a lot of cleaning and organizing done. As it turns out, Jake is quite handy with a screwdriver:) We took apart all his toys that he doesn't use anymore to put into storage. We laughed and joked and had a wonderful time. He's quite the storyteller.

Then some of our friends invited us over becuase they had some baby chickens delivered to their house and I thought for sure Jake would LOVE them...

Yeah...not so much...He DID really love their vacuum though :)
Since Alan was away I totally cut loose and let Jake have the first sucker of his career...he was a natural...and it was the BIGGEST, STICKIEST MESS! But he had a great time and we were outside...no harm done, right?
We were soooo happy to have Alan come home! Jake made this sign....

...to be sure that Alan found us amidst the crush of people at the airport. This was also Jake's first introduction to the luggage conveyer belt...talk about a good time and one happy little boy!!!
Jake and I made one of Alan's favorite desserts...angel food cake...for his welcome home dinner...truth be told, Jake did great with the cake, but it was a miracle we had ANY strawberries left to put on it!!!!
