4 days and counting...

So...just wanted to give everyone a quick update...

Things are going well...we are just waiting for Baby G to make his appearance...4 days "late"...
In the meantime, Jake had his 2nd birthday...We celebrated last Saturday with some cousins, and aunt and 2 uncles here. We had balloons galore (truth be told I blew them all up in the hopes that the exertion would put me in to labor...which didn't happen, but the kids really loved the balloons), games, homemake brownies and ice cream. He caught on really quickly to the idea of birthday parties and L-O-V-E-S them...smart boy.

We started the day making rolly pancakes. Daddy made him a whole bunch of little ones - just his size - but after about 2 seconds he decided he only wanted the big ones. You can fit more powdered sugar in them:) A boy after my own heart.

Next he got to help making the brownies. As you can tell from the brownie marks, he made good use of his "mixing" spoon. As he was licking the bowl clean he started chuckling and said, "I am spoiled rotten!" Yes you are...
Somewhere in the middle of all the birthday fun he discovered our dictionary. He said, "Mom, I'll read you a story, "Christ Our Lord was a missionary. What do you think happened next?" I said, "I don't know, you tell me." He turned the page and said, "Christ our Lord was a prophet". Ok... :) I included a video of him blowing out the candles but am a spaz so it's at the end of this post.
We have completed all the necessary purchases for bringing a baby home. I took this one out of the box and Jake climbed right in. It just so happened that he hadn't decided a nap was worthwhile that day...he promptly fell asleep. Talk about two birds with one stone...he got a nap and the test phase of the carseat was completed early:) It works for transport and for sleep appeal:)

We got these little party glasses for the birthday bash...Jake thinks he needs to wear them EVERYWHERE all the time:) And who am I to tell him no? He is also really getting in to stickers...which we are discovering he will do just about ANYTHING to earn:) Good info to have on a 2 year old, eh?

We are rounding out our waiting adventures with 2 bouts of strep throat and an uncomfortable mama...good times all around. Poor Jake spent his actual birthday with a 103.5 fever, cough, and just plain feeling miserable. Alan waited until this morning to show his symptoms...so we are all on antibiotics and lovin' it! Now we need to wait 24 hours until the antibiotics kick in before the baby comes...not that he's listened to my opinion so far...but that's what the dr ordered...

Overall we are doing well. Very excited to meet our new little guy. Liking our new location, job, etc. So there you have it.
